About Amani UK Gifts

This is a website where you can pledge to donate money to Amani UK.

Amani UK is a charity which supports widows in Western Kenya. We support the widows by providing them with the ability to create their own income, grow their own food and to keep healthy. You can find out more about the work of Amani UK by visiting the main Amani UK Website at amaniuk.org.uk.

Using the "Pledge Form" you can pledge to donate money to Amani UK, who will (if aplicable), reclaim tax on your donation via "Gift Aid"resulting in each pound donated being increased by 28 pence. The running and administration costs of Amani UK are met entirely by the trustees of the charity, so you can donate in the knowledge that 100%, or in Gift Aid cases 128% of the money you give will directly change the lives of widows in Western Kenya. You can use this website as a way of buying an alternative birthday / wedding / anniversary present for a friend. If you tick the "Present for someone else" box on the pledge form, we will send you a Thank You card for you to pass on to your friend. We also operate a formal events gift list service for anybody wishing to ask their guests to to support the charity, rather than giving them more things they don't need! If the gift that you have selected is livestock, you can suggest a name for the animal in the comments box. We will tell our Kenyan friends the name that you have suggested.

To ensure the total integrity of all donations the following system operates in Kenya:

Details of gifts are emailed to Kenya and decisions on recipient allocations are communicated to all those involved.
The money is transferred to Kenya on reciept in the UK of confirmed intentions.
The gifts are purchased.
The gifts are then presented by group gatherings attended by Community Board members and staff, invariably with the taking of photographs to record the occasion.

By collective involvement and total transparency, integrity is assured together with much goodwill.

From total gifts of £7,500 in 2007 we were able to provide 10 ploughing bulls, 17 donkeys, 18 cows, 18 cross-breed goats and 73 school desks and many other gifts. Thank You for your continued support.
